Wheels for Mike "Brinkster" Brink

My name is Patricia Parrish and I am Mike's mother.  His daughter Clarissa and I are in hopes of getting help for Mike to get him a handicapped van.

Mike was an industrial welder for 20 some years and loved his work.  He is also an avid Steelers fan.  His other loves are golf and of course the light of his life, his daughter Clarissa.

On April 8, 2006 , while working at a job in Las Vegas, some of his friends from California joined him for a day of riding at the dunes on the border of Nevada and California.  It was a day that would change his life forever.  He was severely injured in a dirt bike accident with injuries so severe that he was not expected to survive the medical airlift to the trauma center in Las Vegas.

However Mike beat the odds, but was left a quadriplegic and sufferes from some brain injury due to a torn aorta and a lot of blood loss.  This resulted in a lack of oxygen to the brain leaving him with slurred speech and upper body spasms.

He has always remained strong, positive, and will never give up trying to heal.  He continues to be a source of strength and courage to a lot of people.

The only transportation Mike now has is the medical ltransport to medical appointments.  He is unable to enjoy the simple things in life such as going to Denny's for breakfast or going to a movie, etc.   At this time in his life he deserves to have some normalcy and we would love for him to get out to have some fun and enjoy life again.
