Hello. My name is Saba Ahmed from Irvine, California and I am a concerned citizen of the world.
We all are aware of the refugee and migrant crisis taking place in Europe at the moment; especially after the image of Aylan Kurdi's body made headlines all over the world. Their journey across the sea is extremely dangerous and many husbands, wives and children have drowned. The fortunate ones that have survived are in desperate need of our help. I am planning on flying out to Kos, Greece to volunteer in a couple of weeks and was hoping not to go empty handed.
About 200,000 refugees, mainly from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, have arrived on islands such as Kos so far this year. They are receiving little help and no shelter at the moment. Residents, tourists and local volunteer groups are doing as much as they can but it's not enough. We are all pretty fortunate compared to others and a little bit can go a long way.
I'm looking to raise funds that will directly benefit the refugees and migrants in Kos. My plan is to provide them with fresh food, water, and/or money to help with their chances of survival in the uncertain conditions and journey to other parts of Europe. The food and water will all be purchased in Kos and any funds left over will be given directly to the refugees/migrants in Kos.
Your contribution is greatly appreciated; please share this with your family and friends. Thank you all for your generosity and support.
...It's better late than never.
