Aloha!

That word, for those that don’t know, can be Hawaiian for “hello” and “goodbye.” Today, we say hello to you - our friends and family - as well as ask for your help in saying goodbye to a cancer that’s affecting someone we all love very dearly.

Our beautiful, spirited mom, Cherie Hauck, is fearlessly confronting Stage 3, triple-negative breast cancer - a type of breast cancer where the cells do not have specific receptors for estrogen, progesterone, and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2). Ultimately, the absence of these receptors makes certain targeted therapies less effective, and since it’s more aggressive compared to other types, requires different treatment approaches.

Our mom has battled mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD) prior to her TNBC cancer diagnosis. Thru cell growth shots, chemo and future surgeries plus radiation treatments, her fight is strong and her radiant spirit shines brighter than ever.

While cancer may cast shadows, we choose to paint the canvas of this journey with laughter and joy. In times like these, humor becomes our healing balm, adding a touch of sunshine to the stormy skies ahead. So with that, let’s infuse this campaign with the light-heartedness she reminds us of every time we say aloha to her.

Speaking of storms, the financial burden that accompanies medical treatments can be… turbulent, to say the least. Your support will alleviate some financial strain, allowing our mom to focus on healing, surrounded by the love and strength of her ohana.

But our ask goes beyond monetary contributions! If you’re not in a position to help in that regard, please take a moment to share a smile, joke, or just some overall positive energy her way. Send uplifting messages, photos that capture the beauty of the islands in our everyday lives, or perhaps even a Hawaiian proverb that inspires resilience. (She loves those).
