Kyra is not only a dear friend but she is also  a Mommy to (3) boys, a wife, daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, niece, and friend.  When I stop and think about Kyra,  I think of  her as super woman!  She works full time to support their family of 5.   Prior to her diagnosis they were presented with the challenge of moving which during COVID is nearly impossible.  During the moving process, Kyra fell ill with a kidney infection.   After treatment for the kidney infection her health was not improving.  She was battling back pain and sudden swelling of her abdomen.  She went in for a CT scan the morning of September 2nd.  Her primary physician called her after hours and asked her to come in the following day and to bring her husband with her.  They discovered a mass within her uterus.  Within 48-72 hours Kyra received a phone call that she required emergency surgery.  She was referred to Dr. Audrey Garrett in Eugene who specializes in  Gynecologic Oncology. Yesterday Kyra had a complete hysterectomy to remove the mass. During surgery they discovered her female organs were full of cancer.  They removed 7+ liters of fluid from her abdomen which put her at risk for congestive heart failure.

Once she returns home to Medford she will be undergoing chemo. Her medical team is optimistic of her recovery.  Kyra has a tremendous amount of support from friends and family however in the meantime she does not have a source of income. All this happened so suddenly.  Kyra and her family are still waiting to hear details about her diagnosis her path forward. In the meantime, I do not want her to stress about they financial situation and paying the bills. She has (3) young boys who just started distant learning, and her family is still moving them as we speak.  There is a lot of change and challenges ahead. Kyra is one of the most humble, kind and caring people I know.  There isn't anything she wouldn't do for her friends and family.  Not only is she my friend but I also get the joy of working with her each day.   She is also one of our key employees who is dearly missed and will be while while she recovers.  Please do not feel pressure if you cannot donate financially.  Just leave some words of encouragement and help her in this fight.  We want for her to be able to focus on herself and recovery without a financial hardship.
