It is with deep deep sadness that my friend of twenty five years and beautiful colleague Kym (Watson) Murray succumbed to Double shot Non Hodgkins Lymphoma (a very rare cancer) Monday January 29 2018, after a tireless eight month battle.
Kym was an active OASLI and AVLIC member for over 20 years spending the majority of her career in the Belleville Kingston area.
She was an advocate and ally to our profession and to the Deaf community she served. She was a long term staff interpreter with The Canadian Hearing Society and worked hard during the recent strike to fight for all our rights within that organization. As many of us know, when you are walking the picket line things can get tight but you add a diagnoses ofcancer, well, finances start to take a severe beating.
Kym leaves behind an eight year old little girl, Marley. I am asking you to reach into your wallet to donate to an educational fund to be set up for Marley's post secondary studies (RESP).
Please donate what you can for our friend and colleagues little girl. Kym gave her whole heart to our profession and I hope we can reach in and give back to honour her and support Marley.
