Dear Friends, Ministers, Family, and Prayer Partners,
As Pastor, I have the privilege of working closely with Patrick and Kym Miller, United Pentecostal Church International missionaries appointed to the great Alaska-Yukon region. Several years ago, after much prayer and the confirmation of their church body, the Lord opened the door for them to serve in this glorious field—reaching remote villages with the Gospel.
This past month, as they were joyfully preparing to launch the very first church in the village of Anvik, their journey took an unexpected and difficult turn. Kym was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and almost overnight, they had to pause the church plant and travel hundreds of miles for urgent medical care and surgery.
Through it all, Patrick and Kym have felt the sustaining power of God and the prayers of so many. Kym’s surgery is scheduled for October 3, 2025—a procedure that will last all day. The road to full healing will be long, requiring ongoing treatments, travel back and forth for follow-up care, and covering everyday living expenses during this season. Their resources are limited, but their faith is unwavering.
The Millers continue to believe that the Lord who called them to Alaska will finish what He began—both in Kym’s body and in the villages they have already connected with and will continue to reach. I am asking you to join me in standing with them during this time.
Here’s how you can help:
• Pray for Kym’s complete healing and for strength for the entire family. Pray also for the many others in our churches who are facing medical difficulties and life-altering needs.
• Share this need with others who may be moved to help.
• Give as you are able. Every gift, no matter the size, is a testimony of God’s faithfulness.
On behalf of the Millers, thank you for walking this road with them. Together, we will see His name glorified in Alaska’s villages and in this miracle of healing.
With gratitude and hope,
Jim Blackshear
Pastor & District Superintendent
United Pentecostal Church International – Alaska Yukon District.
