Hi, my name is Meagan and I am fundraising on behalf of my sister Kylie and her family.

Kylie is a mother of 3 girls, partner of Drew, a daughter , a sister and a friend whose world changed in an instant. Two weeks ago, on November 12th, she suffered a catastrophic brain injury that left her unresponsive and fighting for her life in the Intensive Care Unit. Part of her brain was severely injured during what would be labelled a freak accident, and only now, is Kylie beginning to respond to stimuli, occasioning opening her eye and squeezing the hands over her loved ones. Every day is a waiting game, and every update comes with a mix of fragile hope and heartbreaking uncertainty.

Kylie currently remains in the Intensive Care Unit where she has received multiple surgeries to help allievate the pressure on her brain and to help her breathe with stability. Unfortunately, this is 2 steps forwards and 1 step back. The medical team has prepared her family that the heartbreaking reality is that she may never regain complete independence she once had. The possibility of permanent, life-long disability is very real, her family hold onto hope while also facing the unbearable uncertainty of what tomorrow will look like.

Kylie is the kind of mum who never stopped giving, she adored her children, and has carried her family through many tragedies including the loss of our own mother earlier this year. She worked tirelessly, loved her job and showed up for everyone around her. She is the glue within her family, the one who could make you laugh even on the days you didn't think you could.

This GoFundMe has been created to support the enormous emotional and financial strain this has placed on her family. Her absence has not just left heartbreak but also intensifying financial pressure on her family. They are preparing for the possibilities they thought they could never have imagined. Through all of this, her family are remaining hopeful for a healthy and happy recovery.

Funds raised will go towards:

-Travel, fuel and parking for daily ICU visits.

-Ongoing care and support of her family.

-Lost income while the family stays by her side.

-Future equipment and rehabilitation.

-Education for her family to learn to care for her needs so that she can return home.
