Kyle's Trip to Muay Thai Nationals

Hi! My name is Kyle Messenger, I am an amateur Muay Thai fighter based out of Calgary, Alberta.
My journey began about 3 years ago - as I was on my drive home from work one evening, I noticed the gym (Elite Training Center) and decided that I wanted to give it a try. I had participated in lots of comepetitive sports in the past like hockey and basketball, and had always had an interest in Martial Arts but had never trained one. My intention at the beginning was not necessarily to compete or become a fighter, but soon after I joined and started learning about the sport, I was hooked.
I trained hard and had my first Muay Thai fight in the spring of 2015. Since then I have also fought twice in MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), and four more times in Muay Thai - 2 of which were in Thailand in 2016. My most recent fight was just held on Oct 22nd here in Calgary for the Journey Fight Series promotion.
I will be competing in the Muay Thai National Championships on November 12th and 13th in Toronto. Athletes from across the country will be competing for a chance to later represent Team Canada at the 2016 Pan Am Championships in Lima, Peru.
I am attempting to raise funds to help out with the travel costs associated with this trip, including the cost of flights between Calgary and Toronto as well as hotel accomodations for two nights while at the Championships.
I feel very grateful to have found my passion through this Martial Art, it has made a huge positive impact on my life. Aside from training, I enjoy instructing at the gym in both the adult and teen's Muay Thai programs.
The opportunity to represent Canada at the Pan Am Championships would literally mean the world to me and would be such a great honor. It would mark a huge achievement for me both as an athlete and on a personal level as well.
