Hello everyone, this is Malinda (Kyle’s Mom). When Kyle was first diagnosed with inoperable Glioblastoma near his brain stem in November 2016, we did not know what the future was going to hold. The initial prognosis was grim. Most people survive less than a year. However, we have a God that is greater than any illness and He has had other plans for Kyle. Here we are, 4 1/2 years later and Kyle is still fighting.
Since the initial diagnosis there have been several rounds of radiation, several rounds of chemotherapy, many hospital stays for a variety of things (blood infection, blood clots, insertion of a shunt to drain fluid, etc). Despite all the difficulties, Kyle has continued to live. He took some college classes, worked, and most importantly, God blessed Kyle with an amazing wife. He and Emily were married in April of 2020. In May of 2020 Kyle had a recurrence and a biopsy to determine exactly what he was dealing with again. It was still GBM and this biopsy left Kyle with some right-side paralysis. His doctor has also moved on from the hospital he goes to, so he sought God’s guidance for a new neuro-oncologist. He found an excellent doctor at John Hopkins in Baltimore and is also currently consulting with another doctor at Duke University in North Carolina.
Hundreds of you have prayed for Kyle and helped (and are currently helping) in so many ways. I’m creating this GoFundMe to help him and Emily with travel costs from Baltimore and now Duke University in North Carolina, and to help with any medical costs. He does have medical insurance, but there can still be copays and coinsurance costs.
He just heard from both doctors yesterday (06/16) and the plan is to travel down to North Carolina before a new treatment starts. He’s not sure yet what the treatment will be, that’s what the appointment is for.
Kyle has been unable to work since the biopsy in 2020. He is currently on disability and they live off of his wife’s income. Please consider donating and sharing this GoFundMe to help them out.
