Hi, Kyle is now 14 years old. He has cerebral palsy and autism.
He had an SDR operation in St Louis Children’s Hospital in 2013. This procedure enabled him to walk independently which was amazing.
However, over the past few years, a combination of things has resulted in his mobility deteriorating drastically.
The COVID pandemic and lockdown had a huge negative effect on him as there were no physios, the swimming pools were closed, as were the gyms.
He has been assessed by an Orthopaedic surgeon in Bristol Children’s Hospital and was accepted and put on the waiting list last month for hamstring surgery. This surgery will help straighten his legs, which will then improve his mobility. This will have a huge positive impact on Kyle.
Due to Kyle’s deterioration, he was classed as a high priority and today they called and offered the operation on 24th January 2024! This came as a huge surprise as it hasn’t given us any time to prepare.
We need to stay in Bristol for 2-3 weeks, and Kyle will need some intensive physio as part of his rehabilitation.
Any donations towards the unexpected living costs, and private muscle strengthening sessions afterwards would be very much appreciated.
Thank you for taking time to read our story.
