Kyle's Medical Expenses To Continue His Fight!
Donation protected
Hi I'm Debbie Cole, this is a new gofundme for Kyle Seay after 10 months of fighting Lymphoma
(update from Kyle's mom Lisa)
When we last communicated with our group in December, Kyle had gotten oh-so-close to starting his stem cell transplant process when another setback hit him. This time it was a buildup of fluid in his lungs discovered on December 18, just one damn day before he was to start his transplant testing! Sadly, the doctors found the lymphoma was back and growing again, resulting in another week in the hospital and the placement of a drain tube in his chest that remains there today. The doctors determined that his lymphoma is chemo-resistant and needless to say, his stem cell transplant had to be put on hold while his medical team searches for a treatment regimen that will work to drive his cancer to remission. All of this has been quite overwhelming for Kyle and for all of us, as he and we try to process this news and cope with our fears and emotions.
But faith has a way of sneaking up on you when hope seems fleeting…..today, January 17, 2024, we received the encouraging news that Kyle has been approved for a new chemo drug recently approved by the FDA for treatment of other forms of non-Hodgkins lymphomas. The drug is known as EPKINLY and we are told it has shown promising results in other lymphomas and most notably in forms of leukemia. The doctors are optimistic that this new drug will help Kyle in his fight to get to the stem cell transplant. Each cycle of this new treatment is a series of 4 injections over a 28 day period and we are so happy to report that he starts this new regimen on January 18! Please continue to pray for Kyle that this drug is finally the answer he needs to allow him to get the stem cell transplant he so desperately needs to beat this most horrible disease.
Now to his other reality……the overwhelming financial burden this has placed on Kyle and his family. Quite unexpectedly, as of December 31, 2023, Kyle’s employer, Ferguson Enterprises, made the policy decision to remove Kyle from their “active employee” group, thus terminating his health care coverage and other employee benefits he had with them! Suddenly and without legitimate warning, Kyle no longer had health insurance to cover the extreme cost of his treatment. Fortunately, we were able to scramble and get him signed up for COBRA and his insurance plan with Anthem will continue, but at a much higher cost to him of $700 monthly. Add to that the new 2024 out of pocket deductible cost of $6,500 and Kyle has another financial mountain to climb. For this reason, we are establishing a new GoFundMe to help cover the monthly premium cost, his out of pocket deductible costs for treatment, and any miscellaneous medical expenses/supplies we encounter as we continue to explore every possible avenue to beat horrible disease.
We continue to be so grateful for this outpouring of support all of you have shown to Kyle over the past 10 months. It goes without saying that we appreciate every bit of financial support, no matter how big or small, that you can give to him to help him through this. He could not get through this without each and every one of you who have supported him. We love you all!
