Hi. My name is Katrina. My 23 year old brother, Kyler, was in a terrible accident the night of September 15, 2022. He and a friend were on their way back to our ranch on a backcountry road. It was dark and as they came over a hill a deer appeared in the road. Being in a small Ford Ranger, the driver (Kyler's friend) attempted to avoid the deer. This caused them to leave the road at about 40mph, hit an embankment, and roll. Kyler was ejected from the passenger side (a blessing considering how demolished the passenger side of the pickup is) and ended up in the sagebrush about 30 feet from where the pickup landed. Kyler was knocked unconscious and when he finally came to, he was unable to move or feel his legs. His friend, while also injured, did the best he could to care for Kyler for an undetermined amount of time until Kyler's girlfriend called and they were able to locate his phone in the pasture and call for help.

Upon arriving, Wheatland EMTs determined it would be best to get Kyler to Cheyenne and they met a Lifeflight helicopter at the airport on their way back to town.

Fortunately, given the circumstances, Kyler's injuries were not as severe as they could have been. He has a broken tailbone, broken hip socket, major concussion, and multiple lacerations and bruising. He is in a monumental amount pain and battling some minor memory issues as well.

Being the hard-working rancher he is, Kyler does not have health insurance. His mother recently started a new job in her dream career field and also does not have insurance to help cover his mounting medical costs. Kyler has a long road of recovery ahead of him both in the hospital and at home. We are humbly asking for any assistance you may be able to provide to help care for this charismatic young man.
