We need y’alls help—
My best friend, Kyle, has a severe case of DMD (Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy). Several years ago, a documentary titled “Darrius Goes West” was made. It was about a couple guys who took their best friend Darrius (who had DMD) on a road trip. Ever since Kyle heard about that film, it has been a dream of his do the same. I met Kyle freshman year and he changed my life, he is the epitome of a Good Ag and cares more about other people than his well-being.
Me and 4 other of Kyle’s friends are hoping to fulfill his dream. We will document our road trip and make a documentary out of it to raise money for DMD research. Kyle is very passionate about finding a cure for younger boys who suffer from DMD. We have contacted professional filmmakers about the possibility of them filming it as opposed to ourselves. If we paid for the whole trip out of pocket, it would cost around $7,000-$8,000. 5 broke college students could never make that happen.
However, the Aggie network is an incredible thing, and we think this could be a perfect example of Aggies coming together to help fulfill the number one thing on Kyles bucket list. We have set up a GoFundMe account—we are asking for money for the RV, gas, and hotel rooms.
All money that is not used for our trip will be given to DMD research along with money raised from selling the film once it has been produced. Kyle has a 501c3 non-profit called “Kyles Komrads” that was set up by his mom.
Our objectives are these 2 things:
1) Fulfill Kyles long-time dream of going on a road trip with his buds.
2) Donate money to DMD research
