Where to start....My name is Stephanie and I am one of Kyle's sisters. Kyle has been overwhelmed with so much love and support since his diagnosis and is truly blessed to have so many amazing people in his life. Many people have asked what they can do to help, and just being there for him, along with all of your well wishes and prayers is definitely all we could ever ask for. A few of you have asked to do more, which is why I am setting up this page. Watching someone go through this illness is heartbreaking, especially when you know there is nothing that you can do to make it better. To try and lighten the load that this diagnosis brings, we are trying to alleviate some of Kyle's stresses and raise enough money to cover his insurance deductible/out of pocket expenses. Unfortunately, he will have to meet that deductible twice, once for 2015 and again for 2016. We all know that not everyone is in a position to give, and that is OK. Prayers, love and support are the biggest donations you could ever possibly make. Please continue to keep Kyle in your thoughts and prayers as he CRUSHES cancer.
Kyle's Story:
It started with Kyle feeling like he was getting a cold. Several days passed and he wasn't feeling better, and by the urging of a great friend, he went to Urgent Care. During the exam, they asked if he wanted blood work done and since he was planning to be traveling to Israel the beginning of 2016, he decided to go forward with that testing. The next day, urgent care called and told him that his blood work showed critically low platelet counts and to go to the Emergency Room as soon as possible. Almost instantly, Kyle was admitted to the hospital for futher tests and monitoring. Two days after being admitted, the diagnosis came, Leukemia. He was transferred to the Mayo clinic where the final diagnosis was given, a rare form of cancer called Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APL). This diagnosis, although devastating, is cureable and the remission rates are amazingly high, unfortunately, the treatment is very agressive. Kyle will be in the hospital for the next 4-6 weeks, and has also been told he will not be able to return to work for at least the next year, while he continues to receive treatment and recooperate. He continues to be in great spirits in spite of all of this, and I truly believe that is due to all of the support every single one of you has shown him. We will never be able to thank everyone enough for what they have already done.
