I am blessed beyond words for anyone that reads this and is interested in my story. It’s been a wild roller coaster ride for the past two years. It all started with my grandma. She got diagnosed, by accident, with Endocine carcinoid cancer. In September, my mother got MMSA that attached to her spine and almost killed her. I was taking off work a lot to help take care of the both of them. December my grandfather got in a semi truck-car accident which lead to his death the following day. Fast forward to April, my fiancé and I experienced our first miscarriage. After the miscarriage, I really began having symptoms of the cancer. I just thought it was stress induced. In November, I was in excruciating pain. I made an appointment to see the gynecologist. That’s when she found the mass and the process began. I’m in stage 3 cervical cancer. The cancer is a slow growing cancer, which is good. BUT I’ve had it for over a year. The cancer is growing. It has attached itself to a ligament in my uterus. I had a PET scan done. It shown that I have lymph nodes in my pelvic area and under my arm pits that are a huge concern. They said that my thyroids were lighting up on the scan as well. My doctor referred me to a Hematology/ Oncology specialist. I now have to undergo more testing, ultrasounds and scans. January 18th I will be having a laparoscopic surgery to pin my ovaries up and out of the way from radiation to save my natural hormones so I don’t go into menopause at 28. The 19th will be my first day of radiation. This will leave me out of work for 6 weeks. With me missing so much work from the past two years with all these unfortunate events i barely have any PTO, extended leave, sick leave, ETC… Acadia, the company I work for, told me that they won’t allow my co workers to donate their hours… any kind of help to get me and my family through this will be truly a blessing.
