Back in 2009, Kyle Abernethy and I joined together to form Krab Jab Studio, initially a small workspace in the old brewery building known as the Bottling Plant in Seattle. Since then, Krab Jab Studio grew into the gallery space it is today, and while Kyle moved on to become a guiding force behind The Art Lair art school, he and I have stayed close, and just recently he came back into the fold as Krab Jab's Director of Education.
Last Friday, Kyle awoke with intense stomach pain and was rushed to the hospital with Pancreatitis. He has been hospitalized since then, until he can eat and drink on his own he has to stay there for observation. Since his gallbladder is the probable cause for the attack, he is scheduled to have it removed this upcoming Monday.
Being a painter and instructor of limited means, Kyle has basic insurance. However, the lab tests, ER, ambulance, operation and hospital stay will saddle him with personal responsibility to a portion of bills that mount into the thousands. Coupled with lost teaching time, this puts Kyle into a stressful situation during his recovery.
I don't want him to focus on more than getting healthy again, so with his blessing I've set up this campaign to help him tackle his initial hospital bills. Kyle is a huge influence to many young, aspiring artists and his paintings have always been popular in the Seattle art community. He gives so much of his time and skills to help so many, and having him back to doing what he loves with a little less stress is just a small token of gratitude all of us can afford to give him.
Even just a donation of $5-10 means a lot, and will help tremendously.
Thank you from myself and Krab Jab Studio!
