Kylea's Recovery Fund

Donation protected
On the evening of Friday May 3rd, our close friends, Tim and Sherri Hall, received a call that no parent ever wants to receive. They were told that their daughter Kylea was in a motorcycle accident and was transported to Tampa General Hospital in critical condition. While the trauma team was assessing the extent of Kylea’s injuries, Tim booked the next flight from Dallas to Tampa for Sherri. In the early morning hours on May 4th, the trauma doctor shared that Kylea had broken bones in her left arm and leg that will require surgery, a collapsed lung, broken ribs, multiple fractured vertebrae and a lacerated spleen. Although the injuries were serious, Tim and Sherri were thankful that Kylea wasn’t injured more seriously.

When Sherri arrived at the hospital Saturday morning, Kylea said her head was hurting very badly and her left cheek was numb. Doctors ordered more tests and the results revealed that Kylea had a major stroke and her brain was swelling. Kylea was rushed into surgery to undergo an emergency craniectomy. When Kylea returned to her room in the ICU, she was on a ventilator and doctors shared that Kylea will likely suffer severe paralysis on her left side.

Kylea’s condition continued to decline over the days that followed, and there was concern that Kylea was not going to survive her injuries. After almost 3 weeks in the intensive care unit and 10+ surgeries, Kylea was finally stable enough to leave the ICU.

Tim and Sherri were told that Kylea will need months of inpatient rehab for the paralysis that affected the left side of her body. Initially they were told Kylea would be able to transfer to the rehab center at Tampa General, however they learned differently yesterday.

Kylea’s stroke is much worse than expected and will require specialized treatment. Tim and Sherri were given a list of stroke rehab facilities to select from; none, of which, are in the Tampa area were their family and friend support groups live. Our friends are now faced with making decisions that will require a substantial amount of out of pocket expenses to transport Kylea to Jacksonville or Atlanta. In addition to the medical transport expense, they will also be faced with other expenses that will further impact their family since Sherri is unable to work.

It is anticipated that Kylea will need special care after her release from inpatient rehab, which is expected to last 45-60 days.

I ask that you please help support this wonderful family which will help relieve some of the financial burden that they face, so that they can provide the care that Kylea needs to fully recover.

We understand not everyone will be able to donate, so I ask that you keep the Hall family in your thoughts and prayers.
