Kyle's Battle

Schyler Ron Lavilla, or Kyle, is turning fifteen in a few months. A couple of weeks ago, he almost fainted in school and was found to have a huge mass in the chest, in the mediastinum, which is most likely malignant. Despite chemotherapy, fluid around the heart has accumulated and the main blood vessels are compressed. His spine is also affected, causing significant pain.  He was initially treated in Dumaguete but needs to be transferred to the neighboring island of Cebu for more definitive care, as soon as possible.

Kyle is my godson. I have known his mother, Slynn, since nursing school. She has been through so much...much more than most of us can handle. Over a decade ago, her eldest son  passed due to a choking incident. Just a couple of years ago, in her 30s, she had hip replacement.  Despite these and other significant personal struggles, she has always managed to weather any storm that comes her way...all by herself. This time, however, we can help her carry the burden of this latest trial.
