***October 2022 UPDATE
Three months home and going strong! Each day is a battle, but Kyle is fighting to get to a good place and move forward with his life. Although there are many uphill climbs to learn to walk again and use his hands, thanks to his fantastic wife, Lainie, they tackle it together and consider each day a triumph. Thank you to all who have donated, supported and sent lots of love.
LET'S KEEP IT GOING! Thank you

Thank you to all that sent love, good thoughts, prayers and donations. We are blessed to have such a strong community. Thank you never seems enough, but your kindness, whether monetary or in words, means the world to Kyle and Lainie and has helped immensely. From the bottom of our hearts. Thank you

Some of you know our friend Kyle Shinall was diagnosed with Covid-19 in April 2021. The long-term effects have caused him multiple complications and extensive hospital and rehab stay. More than 14 months later he was able to go home to his family.
The last few years have been challenging to say the least. We have lost friends, family, precious time with people we love because of the pandemic. For our friend Kyle Shinall, Covid-19 brought a very distinctive stop to his world.
In April of 2021, Kyle entered the hospital because of flu-like symptoms and difficulty breathing. Diagnosed with Covid, it ravaged his system. In a matter of days, Kyle's body began to shut down as his lungs struggled to breath.
Doctors insisted he be put on a ventilator. Although we knew this wasn’t a good sign, it was the only option, or we would lose him. We hoped it was a short-term solution, that he would be off in a matter of days or at worst weeks – Kyle was on the ventilator for 8 months. The induced coma and the ventilator were all part of his therapy. But it is also attributed to Kyle not being able to move his limbs, eat or breath on his own.
His spirit, his perseverance and most of all, his wife Lainie, slowly pulled him through to a more stable place. Lainie was by his side at hospitals, multiple moves to rehab centers, and interaction with doctors advocating for him. She never wavered in her conviction that he would get home.
Bringing Kyle home meant renovating their home to accommodate Kyle's new normal. Bedroom, bathroom, ramp, sidewalk access; the lists are endless. As are the expenses for his daily care.
Lainie was able to make a comfortable environment for Kyle to come home to and in June 2022, after 14+ months Kyle was able to go home!
Today, Kyle has limited movement in his legs and thankfully getting stronger in both arms.
The bills for Kyle's daily care are exorbitant; health insurance (Kyle's employer took him off insurance earlier this year), nurses and aides and supplies. Although insurance covers some expenses, it does not cover any of these items. Earlier this year we quietly reached out to a few of our Fort Lee High School friends and were able to collect funds to help with the cost of the ramp to accommodate Kyle’s wheelchair. Thank you to everyone who was able to help.
As Kyle navigates what the new normal will be for his life, we want to give him every opportunity to get there. Additional physical therapy, occupational therapy and aides are needed. Any amount of money you can donate to his daily care would be greatly appreciated.
To all our friends, family, and those that come to this page willing to help, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
To a day we can all look back, smile, sing a song and do a little dance together with Kyle!
