Kyle Shefcik Stroke Recovery
Donation protected

Kyle Shefcik is generally a healthy, hard-working, active 25 year old. He was a little under the weather on Friday, Christmas Eve (not Covid), He had a few body aches and his neck was a little stiff, so he "popped" his neck. Little did anyone know, that is when things went terribly wrong for this fun loving guy.
Christmas morning, when Kyle woke up, he told his Dad, I think I am having a stroke.
Kyle's Dad (Patrick) rushed him to the Dignity Health Yavapai Regional Medical Center Emergency Room (at the hospital system they both work at), the hospital staff immediately assessed Kyle and could not believe what they were looking at, a 25 year old does not have a stroke! They did several tests, and determined that there was at least 1 blood clot in the blood vessels in Kyle's brain. The decision was made to send him from the community hospital in the Prescott Valley, AZ to St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center more than an hour away in the Phoenix , AZ area
Kyle was placed on blood thinners, an MRI on Sunday showed some improvement in the blood clot and he was able to eat for the first time in 3 days.
Kyle is looking at several weeks to months in a rehab facility to regain his ability to walk independently, and more therapy and time to make a full recovery and months of medical interventions to repair the damage that has been done by the stroke
Kyle has a good job with the Dignity Health Yavapai Regional Medical Center, but his recovery will use all of his sick time, and then some, plus the added medical bills. Please help!

Kyle had been working with therapists at St. Joseph's and was moved to Mountain Valley Rehabilitation Center closer to home in Prescott Valley. He is in good spirits and is overwhelmed with the support from everyone. He is walking a bit better and working hard to make a full recovery. His parents Patrick and Lena thank everyone for all the well wishes and generosity as well.
