Kyle Ledson’s New Album

This is Kyle Ledson here.  I’m a young musician about to finish my senior year of high school. I’ve been playing instruments, singing, and songwriting my entire life; I started on the the fiddle when I was three years old.

It’s been about 5 years since I have been in the studio and ever since then I’ve been dying to go back. Last time I recorded an EP called Crooked Mandolin, with guests like Molly Tuttle, The T Sisters, and Hot Buttered Rum. This year I’m planning on recording a full length album. Doubling as my senior project for high school, I plan on an ambitious new project with all new original songs I’ve been waiting to record. I also plan to have Nat Keefe of Hot Buttered Rum help produce and mentor me through this project.

Last time I recorded, I was fortunate to have the sole financial support of my parents and grandparents to fund the project. That got expensive fast. And while I always have their support, I have decided that I would like to secure the funding on my own for this next project. You know, learning the value of the old mighty dollar!

Recording takes a tremendous budget and the funds required add up real quick. We have to pay for studio recording time and mixing, a sound engineer to run the studio, a producer to tie everything together, guest musicians (and the more, the merrier), track mastering, song registration and licensing, CD printing & duplication, transportation and even lodging. If we raise enough funds, I’ll be able to round up a full host of guest musicians and that’s very exciting for me and important for my musical development to collaborate with a wide selection of talent.

I’m extremely anxious to get this ball rolling, it’s such a shame that art hinders on a financial budget like this. Asking for help isn’t my specialty but it is a huge step in this overall process so I’m hoping I can find enough fans that would like to help me get my new music published. If you have any additional ideas to help fuel this fire or would like to make a simple donation, it would mean the world to me. I would love to reach this goal with the help of your support and I’m also offering some fun rewards for your valued donations. Thank you ever so much for your time. I really appreciate it and I look forward to sharing my art with you all.

I would like to give a special thank you to a very generous and kind woman named Chantal Michelin. She spent the final night at Camp Deep End 3 gathering email addresses and phone numbers from the wonderful CDE family to help me get this whole idea started!
