Kyle LaZarre's Van Dreams Up In Flames

Hi all, our names are Cody & Courtney and we are wanting to start this page for Cody's brother, Kyle. As some of you may know, Kyle has a great desire for travel, specifically 'van life' after his adventures in Australia back in 2014. Since then he has set out to build his very own camper van that he would use to eventually travel the US. He purchased his diamond in the rough back on Nov. 23rd 2018 in hopes to fulfill the vision he had.

Over the last 3 years, he's completely gutted the inside and refurnished from the floor to the ceiling. He was nearing the finish line in hopes of hitting the open road within the next year and was just buttoning up some final details. Over these past few years, he's made a lot of memories with the van going on short trips to go camping, little day trips to Afton Alps for snowboarding, a road trip to Colorado to visit family, and it was his cat Tino's favorite spot to hang after a long day. There were many ups and downs throughout the building process of this van, but that only made him grow fonder of it.

 

On January 27th, 2022, Kyle and our friend Scott packed up the van with everyones gear and were off on an adventure that would land them in Park City, UT for another snowboarding trip. After a long, sleepless drive they made it to UT with no issues and

were ready to hit the slopes. Four of us flew out there to meet them and had a blast for the week. At the end of our trip, it was time for us to split ways and head out on our flight, while Scott and Kyle would haul everyones gear back to MN.

 

On Saturday, February 5th around 3am, all of those hopes and dreams vanished in an instant. While on their final stretch of the drive home they noticed a loss in power so they decided to pull over to check. Kyle crawled under the van to find that the transmission had gone out and was so hot that it started a small fire. This small fire only gave them a matter of minutes to quickly react in grabbing everyones belongings including snowboards, bags, etc. and throw them out of the van before it was engulfed in flames. Within a matter of minutes the van was nothing more than a chunk of metal that had burned completely. While they were able to salvage most of everyones belongings, there was a large amount that was still lost.

 

This is a nightmare that no one would ever imagine happening and we are asking for everyones help in an attempt to replace a fraction of what was lost that day. We appreciate everyone who has taken the time to read this and provide support.
