My name is Kyle Eng and I’m a Senior at Clarkstown High School South and a Life Scout with Troop 2097 in New City, NY. I am currently working on my Boy Scout Eagle Project and have an amazing opportunity to give back to the behind-the-scenes heroes – Our Rockland County EMS
Several passionate EMS ladies reached out looking to have their vision of an EMS memorial become a reality. The memorial is to symbolize those who served and the many who still dedicate their time to volunteer at the many EMS divisions in the County of Rockland, NY. After several meetings and discussions, I planned to take on this challenge and make this vision come to life. With this year, 2020 and dealing with the COVID pandemic, this has made it an even more important project. So many of these volunteers have provided strength and service helping the many families within the communities. This is one way I can give back to them - our Heroes.
This project has been approved and the plan is to install a memorial at the new Headquarters of The Rockland County EMS Offices at the Firemen’s Training Center in Pomona, NY. The site will include a granite memorial with logos of all the EMS divisions that serve the Rockland County region. The design also includes radial pavers cascading out from the memorial center piece, two concrete radial benches and new landscaping. The site location is set next to the new entrance of the headquarters of the Rockland County EMS where the training center is also located. The outdoor space will give everyone a place to relax & reflect and to share stories & memories.
