Kyle Cott Lost Everything in the Kincade Fire

Donation protected

In the devastating news of the Kincade fires, my brother Kyle's house was unfortunately part of the tragedy.

After searching for his "perfect spot" to land and stay, he found it in the hills between Healdsburg and Calistoga. A very secluded 11 acres down the beautiful back roads of wine country with trees all around. He loves places like this, in nature, with animals and creeks - just a peaceful atmosphere.

But it wasnt just where he called home, it was also Kyle's main source of income as he was the property manager on site to assist with the owner's AirBNB cottages for visitors that would travel to the Wine Country for some rest and relaxation. He knew the property well, it had become his life, what he is good at and loves to do.

There were 14 structures on the property, 13 of which are gone now including Kyle's home and all of the Airbnb rentals. All of the people and animals that lived on the property were able to escape the fires, thank goodness.

On the morning of Wednesday, October 23rd at about 1AM -After seeing the initial flash and "explosion" of the PG&E power transformer, Kyle knew he had to quickly evacuate to our parents, Brad and Linda's house in Healdsburg. He stayed there until the whole town of Healdsburg got the alert to evacuate on Saturday afternoon. My parents, Kyle, his girlfriend Laura and her son all left to Santa Rosa to stay for less than a night because at 4am Sunday morning, they got the phone alert (yet again) to evacuate Santa Rosa (winds 80-90MPH). The fire was moving quickly and blowing debris, starting random spot-fires on houses and properties all over the county. All of the evacuation shelters were immediately overflowing, so they all have to rely on friends and family.

At this point, they started driving more south to Petaluma when the 2 groups split off. My parents went on to Petaluma, where they have been until they are able to return to Healdsburg. Kyle and his girlfriend left to his friend Nate's house in Berkeley.

Kyle ultimately got the text on Monday morning, confirming that his house was indeed, gone. It's a crazy situation to think about one day you have a place of comfort, a home - all your things - to nothing, to ultimately being homeless.

I know a lot of us remember this happening pretty much exactly 2 years ago with The Tubbs Fire. We had cousins and their families as well as numerous friends lose houses, history and livelihood, and having to start all over.

We arent asking for much, but anything that you can spare to help Kyle would be greatly appreciated. Donations here, or clothes/essentials sent in the mail.

Here is a link to Kyle's business website "Sonoma Logistics" if you or someone you know needs property management services - please contact him.  http://sonomalogistics.com/

Thank you so much for reading his story as well as the numerous texts, FB messages, posts and love that everyone has shown us - we love and appreciate all of you so so much.

Our family has always been about peace in the world and helping your neighbor, please keep all of the victims of these California fires in your minds and hearts.

Love you all!

** I included some pics of the last time that I visited him at his place, to visit for the first time - and plan for summer sleepovers with the kids :(  to the aftermath of what it currently looks like. **
