I recently learned that my son’s best friend, Kyle Hickey-Pfaefflin was nominated by his 5th grade instructor, Ms. Ladegard to attend the 2022 Junior National Young Leaders Conference (JrNYLC) in Washington D.C. This is an incredible opportunity and wanted to help him in any way I can.
This program is for middle school students who have shown an aptitude and interest for inspiring others and becoming part of the next generation of great leaders. During this six-day learning adventure, Washington, D.C. will serve as a living classroom for students as they develop leadership skills and enjoy the educational experience of a lifetime. This is an amazing opportunity to get invaluable hands-on experience and develop lifelong success skills.
As noted on the JrNYLC site
“…attendees participate in hands-on simulations and workshops, including a civic engagement simulation where they work to create their own organization to create positive change in their communities. Over six days in and around the nation's capital, attendees experience the power of democracy among the monuments, are inspired by exemplary stories of courage, collaborate to discover solutions to some of the issues they face today, and spend a night in a museum among new friends.”
As with most great opportunities, there is a cost involved, the tuition alone for this program is $2,495. The tuition will cover room & board, site visits around D.C., lectures, curriculum, and materials. However, it will not cover airfare, select meals, snacks, and incidentals.
Kyle really wants to attend this trip, but the expense would be a huge hurdle for his family. We are asking for your support to make this opportunity a reality for Kyle! No amount is too small or too large. Every amount donated will bring him closer to this once in a lifetime opportunity and the chance to represent Franklin Middle School students and those across the nation.
I appreciate your time and any assistance you can give!
