Help Ky & his family during this long road ahead

Donation protected

Monday, January 22nd we noticed that our 14 month old, Ky, was losing his balance and seemed to be in pain. After a couple doctor visits, we decided to head to the ER for a second opinion. They did a CAT scan and the news was not what we were hoping.

Ky has a mass on his brain stem that is creating pressure and blocking spinal fluid causing the poor balance. He was admitted to the PICU at Sanford and had a drain placed to relieve some of the pressure. He then had an MRI for further understanding of what the mass was.

Based on the MRI, the mass is believed to be around a 2” x 2” malignant tumor. This will be confirmed with a biopsy. Not the best news to hear, but on a positive note, the MRI didn’t find any spots down his spine, which we are so thankful for!

Ky is having a second MRI on January 29th, and then he will immediately head to surgery to remove the mass. Surgery is expected to take around 4 hours. At this time we do not know the recovery period or the plan for post surgery, but are hoping and praying hard for good news there.

The last couple of days have been much better for Ky as a lot of fluid has drained off his head. He has been smiling, talking, and laughing. We are leaning on the Lord during this time and know that He is holding Ky close.
