Hello I’m Virginia- Sandy Harris the mother of Kyla, who is now 7 years old. Kyla was born with an illness called sickle cell anemia. It’s an illness that causes blood clots to form across the body, hospitalizing & causing her agonizing pain throughout my life and all of her loved ones. Kyla two rare blood diseases is: Sickle Cell Anemia and Thalassemia. These are both anemic blood disorders that have the following symptoms; continuous pain, swollen joints, low oxygen in the body leading to fatigue and dizziness, muscle weakness, shortness of breath, frequent infections, vision problems and episodes of extreme pain which leads to crisis and hospitalization.
Kyla has been in and out of hospital her whole life due to these pain crisis and at the age of 3 she fell into a coma that was almost fatal. It took her two years to fully recover as she had to learn to walk and talk again. She suffered permanent hearing damage as well as vision deterioration. Her every day life is compromised by pain and lack of energy and she has tofollow a strict diet as well as keep her immune system strong to avoid getting sick.Without the 4 weekly blood transfusions she lands up in pain crisis frequently.
Kyla is beautiful young girl who is so loving and sensitive. She has a big heart and loves to help people. We would love to gift her with a normal and long life. There have been amazing medical advances in the last few years and they have now found a 100% cure called CRISPR. They recently found out that Kyla has a sibling match for a Bone Marrow transplant. A Bone Marrow transplant is LIFESAVING and will leave her completely CURED! This is her only recourse to live a full life compared to her current expectancy of only 20-some years. Unfortunately not everything is covered for the BMT so we are fundraising $25,000 to supplement the rest. Life expectancy for Kyla is greatly shortened. She's already receiving monthly blood transfusions for life.
Anything Helps, Thank YOU ALL SO MUCH ❤️
