KYE'S HOUR OF NEED

Kye spent 9 years serving the citizens of York Region in Ontario for the York Regional Police. Retiring at 10 years of age, which is a huge accomplishment in and of itself for a police service dog, is an understatement to say Kye had a long and distinguished career. In 2018 PSD Kye was awarded the Chief of Police Award for the search and rescue of a missing vulnerable female who walked away from her residence in the early morning hours. PSD Kye tracked the Alzheimer's female to Musselman's Lake which was still covered in thin ice. Kye was able to direct his fellow two legged police officers to the location where they could hear the victim's faint cries as she had fallen through the ice. Thanks to Kye's excellent tracking skills and determination the victim was successfully rescued from the lake and made a full recovery in hospital.

Recently, while enjoying his retirement Kye was tragically hit by a car about a week ago and was immediately taken to an emergency clinic by his owners, where they stabilized him. He sustained a massive injury to his back effectively crushing a lot of his skin and muscle which is requiring extensive surgery to repair. The wound is so extensive it will require multiple surgeries along with daily bandage changes for the next few weeks. This will likely culminate in needing skin grafts! He is also on significant pain control while staying in the ICU and is being closely monitored for infection. A HUGE THANK YOU goes out to Kye's entire medical teams who have and continue to do everything possible for this Retired Hero!!!

Currently Kye's medical bills have exceeded $12,000.00 and are likely to reach over $15,000.00. Kye spent his entire working career and good years of his life protecting the citizens of his community. Can you find it in your heart to help him now in his time of need. If so, please consider donating to Ned's Wish who is honoured to be supporting this Retired Hero when he needs it the most. We appreciate any support you can provide to this deserving Hero!!

All donations made through this GoFundMe will be immediately issued a charitable Tax Receipt through the PayPal Giving Fund. We will be posting regular updates until our goal is reached!! Should we exceed our goal, any excess funds will go towards helping other Retired Heroes in need! You can also go directly to www.nedswish.com to make a donation.
