Celtia's Trichy trip

Donation protected
Trichotillomania or Trich (trick) for short is a disorder characterized by the sufferers pulling out their hair.
Most are either unaware of the pulling or find it soothing.  It is classified as a BFRB, body focused repetitive behavior. Along with skin picking, knuckle cracking, and nail biting.
I like most people had never hear of Trich before January 2012. When my then 9 year old daughter Celtia suddenly had a bald patch the size of a silver dollar on the top of her head. Celtia's pulling is the unaware type. She will have the hair in her fingers called to her attention and burst into tears.
The last two years have been a major journey for us both. We have learned so much, most of it from the Trichotillomania learning center. Last April we were able with my mothers help to go to the annual conference in Los Angeles. Very nervous at first, by the second day Celtia had met kids her age with Trich and was leaving off her hat. Letting her bald spots show. She asked me at dinner "where is the conference next year? Can we go?" She told me the best thing she heard all weekend was a Dr. say " if we could just stop it would not be called a disorder." That moments validation was worth so much. After that weekend Celtia had her longest time frame with little or no pullling to date. She had three months without needing to wear a hat.
This year the conference is in Arlington Virginia. I want so very much to take Celtia to the conference again this year. But as a single mom working part time as a special education aide, the cost is simple beyond my means. Friends suggested this crowd funding site. I was so worried to try it. To be honest I was embarrassed to ask for help. But I came home yesterday and she has a new bald spot and more tears. I knew I had to set my pride aside to help her.
My $3,000 goal will cover the registration for the conference, airfare and hotel stay for Celtia and I.
Please if you want to know more about Trichotillomania look for the Trichotillomania learning center online. And if you can help Celtia and I join this community for a weekend of learning and support we would be so blessed.
The event is April 10th to the 13th. We need our funds by April 1st.
