Giving the gift of time to families who experience stillbirth, neonatal death, or late miscarriage ( a baby born without a heartbeat or that passes shortly after ).

Kentucky Cuddle Cot Campaign aims to place a device called a Cuddle Cot in each Kentucky labor and delivery unit.

The cuddle cot is a device that contains a cooling unit, a cooling mat, and tubing that connects to a bassinet or moses basket. The mat cools the baby from underneath a receiving blanket so that the families can spend an extended amount of time with their precious baby instead of handing them over once death takes its toll on the baby's body.

This allows the family to bond with the baby and start the healing and grieving process in a better manner, and allows the family to keep the baby at the bedside for the duration of their stay in the hospital. It allows family that may be out of town to come in and meet the baby. It allows the family to have professional photographs taken of the baby from foundations such as Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep (http://www.nowilaymedowntosleep.org). It can facilitate bonding with siblings, the possibilities and healing are endless with the cuddle cot. 

From the time a family sees those two pink lines on a pregnancy test, you forever bond with your child. To hear "I'm sorry there's no heartbeat." is one of the most gut wrenching and heart breaking experiences one can have. To have essentially NO time with this child is even more heartbreaking. It can cause a lifetime of regret.

This cause is important to me because my own daughter, my second child, Emma Caroline Pace, was born forever sleeping on September 2, 2014 at Manchester Memorial Hospital.


We have placed 7 cots in under 3 years, and plan to place many more! There were only TWO cots when we started this campaign in October 2015. As it stands currently, there are more than 15 in the state!  We still have lots of work to do but we started at the bottom!!!
