DC Improv Staff Lay Off Fund

A message from Allyson Jaffe, owner and comedy school principal: On March 16, I had to lay off almost my entire staff (50 people). Their worlds have been rocked and lives are forever changed. The DC Improv is closed for who knows how long. The level of uncertainty is off the charts, and I have no idea if my business will be able to weather this storm. But I am hopeful that comedy will prevail and we will be back. Many of my employees can not find other work now because all restaurants, bars and hospitality venues are closed. We are not alone in this and my heart aches for the millions of people in this industry who are experiencing the same thing across the world.  I am grateful to the comedians who performed at the club this past weekend to give just a bit of relief to us during this chaos, as well as the comedians who have entertained our audiences since we opened in 1992. To help my staff get through these times please consider virtual tipping them through this go fund me page. I will do whatever I can to try to get through this difficult time with the goal of getting my crew back together again as soon as possible. The DC Improv has been a comedy institution in this city and we will survive this. My team and I look forward to bringing the crowds in the DMV some much needed laughs. This has been devastating but the one thing I know is that we need comedy more than ever. Stay well and safe and we will see you soon.
