Ky's Journey: Overcoming a Brain Tumor

Dear Friends and Family,

On February 16th, 2025, I was diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma—a type of benign brain tumor that affects my hearing and balance among other things. I started experiencing hearing loss on one side back in 2020 - it wasn’t until a recent fall and concussion that the tumor was discovered—something my doctors called a blessing in disguise.

The tumor is large enough that my doctors recommended operating sooner rather than later, and my naturopath agreed this was the right path forward. Thankfully, my medical bills should be covered by the state, yet I’ll still need support for living expenses during recovery. It’s been a whirlwind the last 3 weeks leading up to today.

I’ve been praying fervently and doing energy work bringing in peace and hoping the tumor shrinks. As scary as this all may sound, I need my community to stay positive with their thoughts for me . I know everything is going to be okay. I’m grateful to be working with some of the best neurosurgeons in the country.

I’ve hesitated to post this until I felt it was undeniable. I knew that by sharing, it would make everything feel real. The surgery will last about 8-12 hours, and while I may be out of it for a couple of days, I’ll have someone update my social media stories and this GoFundMe page when I wake up. My doctor plans to keep me in the hospital for 5 days afterward, followed by 6-8 weeks of recovery and possible vestibular therapy.

Everything has happened so quickly that it’s been hard for me to grasp, especially since I’ve always been so health-conscious. I’ve been doing my best to stay positive while also giving myself space to process all the emotions that come with this diagnosis.
