As most of you know, my dearest friend Heather Canaday (Prairie) has been fighting for her life. She was first diagnosed in 2022 with stage 4 terminal, incurable mastitis breast cancer. At that time, she was told to go home and get her affairs in order due to the terminal diagnosis. I have gone with her to see her oncologist and been with her when she received a setback in her treatment back in October 2024. Thankfully, due to the individualized oral medication treatments, she is still here today even though there is no cure. This form of treatment allows patients to live with fewer side effects and gives more time until traditional IV chemo is needed as a last resort. She has been lucky to keep her hair and still be able to run, as that is her biggest therapy. Until now, her insurance has been paying most of her medical costs. This December, the denials started coming. As of today, she has $12,000 in medical debt, and it is quickly rising as the denials keep coming in. She has been fighting with the insurance with no resolution as of now. She will be due for her next supply of medication in February that costs $65,000 a month, and if insurance continues to deny, she won’t be able to receive her treatment. I’m asking for everyone to please donate whatever you can to help lessen the out-of-pocket costs for her at this time. If she does not receive her medication, she will unfortunately die. Please share and spread the word and pray for a resolution so we don’t lose this amazing woman.
