JESSICA’S JOURNEY
My name is Jana Marshall, and I am raising money for a very dear friend of mine, Jessica Martin, as she battles her brain cancer journey. Here is her story.
On April 3, 2022, Jess’s world was turned upside down after 2 weeks of crippling migraines. CT scans, MRI scans and a brain biopsy confirmed the worst news anyone wants to hear. It was Terminal. Brain Cancer. Glioblastoma. Inoperable. The tumor is too deep into the brain for any surgery. After meeting with a team of oncologists on April 14, 2022, at the James at OSU, it was decided to do Chemo and Radiation. It is yet to be determined by the doctors at the James or Cleveland clinic which stages she is in. All we know is it’s either stage 3 or stage 4. Depending on the stage will also determine which trials she may qualify for. That said, Insurance does not cover the cost, and some are 20k a month. Even with insurance, medical bills can be a financial burden, but as we all know, bills and medical expenses add up quickly without being able to work.
Jessica is a 35yr mother of 2 children. Norah 10y and Jack 9y. She worked as a school teacher at Presbyterian Child Care. She is unable to work due to Chemo and Radiation treatments every day. Currently, she can be at home and spend time with the kids. If anyone has the privilege of knowing Jess, you already know how caring and kind she is. As she begins her journey into this, Jess has not lost sight of her faith. She focuses on her children and spends as much time with them as possible.
If you can find it in your hearts and would like to help, any donations are appreciated. All funds raised will go directly to Jess to help cover household bills and medical expenses. We have already started putting together additional fundraisers as well. We hope that Jess will be able to remain in her home with her children. This will be an ongoing fundraiser, and post updates as often as possible.
On behalf of Jess and her children, friends and family, we appreciate the outpouring of love, prayers and support shown over the past few weeks and, undoubtedly, in the months to come.
