Welcome To My Go Fund Me For The Fight Against Colorectal Cancer. This fundraiser is to inform those out there, who have battled or know someone who may struggle with themselves in the FIGHT! Even those of loved ones going through cancer(s). Researching is a huge impact on each and all of us! Whether we make our choices through medicines or spiritual healing. The fight is all the same. This type of cancer, Colorectal Cancer is very aggressive and the top 10 deadliest cancer with a 14% survival rate within 5 years. One thing my family and I recite is "Cancer Does Not Discriminate"! My name is Amanda LaBrake, age 31, this year!! I am a single mother with one child. Who is as amazing as this world gives us? In the year 2021, I started having issues with blood mixed with my stool. Over time, there was no change and no pain, so went for a gastrologist checkup in Sept 2021. No Change, was sent for a endoscopy and colonoscopy. In late October 2021, not only about to close on a home, I was diagnosed with Colorectal Cancer with the colonoscopy results. Just as this news occurred, my now surgeon needed a Pet Scan to see what they would be dealing with. My Cancer showed that I had spots on my liver.5 spots! Now a prognosis in late Oct of 2021 showed there was cancer and it was Stage IV Colorectal Cancer. Lots of questions we asked like, was there any tie to this cancer? How did this happen to you so young? Typically this type of cancer happens to those who are older and or carry these cancer cells. Due to my explaining family genes or environment don't think could have caused this. My surgeon then, and the board for the Cancer Society, decided I should attempt to see the relation. Which was interesting because my cancer is rare for people my age! I took a gene test and not only did it show NOT one gene shown cancer, out of 90, in my entire broad spectrum, of chromosomes, but they also analyzed. Now, after a grueling long November, and still healing from surgery, thus now, brought me to early Dec 2021. I met my oncologist for the first time. He spoke with me about options, but they were very SLIM. The prognosis for my cancer is 2 years. From 2021!! If I decide on cancer treatments such as chemotherapy, there is a possibility to FIGHT. But due to the spread (metastasizing) of cancer cells to the liver, there isn't much to do. If I choose no Chemotherapy I take a risk. This crushed me. Speaking with God, Family, and Friends I decided to try Chemotherapy, with 4 different Chemotherapy medicines, to try to kill the cancer cells. Chemotherapy is the life and miracle for many out there and so Why Not!! But not only with a short prognosis due to the spread of the stage. I have Stage IV and metastasis to the liver with 5 spots in early 2022. We continued the treatments and by End of Sept 2022, the cancer in my liver scan spots went to 9. Change the regimen we did! And the side effects were horrible. Nueropotheapy and constipation and getting sick. No fun! Although I did not lose hair, it was still excruciating. In the midst of all this, I was still working on being a single mother and Fighting the Fight! After studying and speaking with neighbors and relatives I decided to try Duke in NC. To see what is offered. They performed another Pet Scan showing now 22 spots just from Sept. with my last Scan. Harsh news. No good news has still been received from Duke. They will not and cannot perform a liver transplant even if I wanted one. The said Chemotherapy! Chemotherapy was life and a miracle. But at the end, the truth is cancer is deadly. So I am going to Live Life to the Fullest, Enjoy, Love,& Bring Knowledge. My cancer is no different. I will continue to research but maybe just a different walk. Today I have taken a step back from work and am ready to explore the life! All these proceeds will go to Niamoi and I traveling the country together!!Please, if you would like to support Go Fund Me! Protect Yourselves and love all around! Thank you to All who donated. Much Love.
