On July 13th this year, Paul had his first stroke and spent a week in the hospital. We found out he had at least a dozen TIA’s on top of the stroke. On July 24th, Paul had another stroke that affected his right arm, hand, and speech. On July 26th, Paul underwent over 6 hours of neurosurgery. Paul was discharged on August 6th and started at-home rehab. He started getting stronger and started outpatient rehab.

On August 19th, Paul had another stroke while at a doctor's appointment. The severity of the stroke caused Paul to fall, break his teeth and caused facial damage. After a few more days in the hospital, Paul was released and started home rehab again.

On September 12th, Paul was strong enough to start OT, PT and speech therapy as an outpatient. He was doing great and was told he could go from 3 days a week of treatment to just one day a week. Paul felt he was ready to start working again twice a week and was delighted to be getting back to some sense of normalcy.

Unfortunately, on September 21st, Paul suffered another stroke which caused him to lose most of his vision. After ten days in the hospital, he was sent to acute rehab. On October 7th, he had a major stroke which left him paralyzed on the left side. He has been in rehab since Oct 7th and has been diagnosed with arterial sclerosis. Sadly in the last two months, the arteries in his brain have deteriorated to that of a 90-year-old.

The medical team has no idea why this has happened, as Paul doesn’t have any criteria for this disease. The doctors are stumped.

Paul is self-employed. In addition to the complete loss of income, his medical insurance does not cover the ongoing assistance he needs. Chrissie and Cartier are doing everything possible to ensure Paul's safety at home while also trying to work to pay their bills. We are appealing to all the wonderful people who have had the pleasure of having Paul, Chrissie and Cartier in their lives to please support them - they need your help!
