KWPLH conservation and veterinary work

Donation protected
As many of you already know, Sophie and I are moving to Borneo next year to work as veterinarians at a not for profit organisation called KWPLH. KWPLH houses rescued sun bears, as well as street cats and dogs for rehoming, and any injured wildlife that may come in. They also play a significant role in education on species and environmental conservation for many school children, tourists and locals.

In case you did not know, Borneo is one of the most biodiverse locations in the world. The rainforests are estimated to be double the age of the Amazon rainforest, and along with Sumatra, is the only place on earth where bears, tigers, rhinos, orangutans, and elephants live together. Unfortunately, these animals and habitat are being devastated by extensive land clearing, illegal animal trade, and irresponsible pet ownership.
As veterinarians, we will be caring for animals that are living with easily curable diseases such as skin infections, dental disease and parasite infestations but lack medical care. We will be performing routine desexing campaigns to control the overpopulation of street dogs and cats, and to minimise the birth of animals that will not have enough resources to live a happy life.

KWPLH rely on the generosity of visitors and the public, however, are kind enough to take care of Sophie and my housing and food whilst we are there.
In return, and to better equip us for veterinary care, we would like to fundraise as much money as we can before we start, as veterinary care is costly, and we would like to provide the animals with the best care that we can!

KWPLH have given us a Wishlist for the veterinary clinic, which mostly includes basic everyday medical supplies such as swabs, suture materials, catheters and worming, flea and vaccination supplies, which will make a huge difference to many of the animal's lives. These supplies are not readily available in Borneo, and so we will hopefully try and stock up on as much as possible before we leave. As well as the basics, there are some more specific things that the clinic would love to get, such as new drill bits for the dental machine and various veterinary medications that are not available in Borneo. If anyone would like a copy of the Wishlist and may be able to help us out from other veterinary/medical clinics, feel free to send us a message and we will pass it on to you.

Any contribution will mean a lot to us, and we are super appreciative of anyone who can donate, even a small donation will make a difference to an animal's life! Caring for less fortunate animals and wildlife is something Sophie and I are very passionate about and we are very lucky to be able to work together in a unique place like Borneo in one of our dream jobs (...and with Sophie's dream animal).

We want to help these animals and make a difference in their lives, and
so we would love to be able to get as many things for the Wishlist as possible, and raise as much money as well can, so that we can give the animals the love and treatment that they deserve :).

Please feel free to shoot us a message if you have any questions.
