Help! I had a bad accident and I could use your help paying medical bills!

First and foremost I am very sorry that I caused anyone reason for worry, but here we go.

A few months back I was tubing at the Boulder River in beautiful Colorado. Exiting the river I collapsed and fell backwards and split the back of my skull open on a rock. After my great friend Zac called an ambulance while I was unconscious I was rushed to the hospital. They determined it was a seizure, stapled my skull back together. 9 giant staples! They have me some seizure medication, monitored me over night for brain bleed, and then sent me on my way back home.

Everything went back to normal. I was doing shows and felt like myself. BAM, WACK, NO BUENO the seizures started coming back and more frequently so I checked myself into the hospital to get things figured out. Same situation as last, but luckily no need for staples. Increased medication and, again, life back to normal. Comfortable in my skin and making friends and strangers laugh.

I decided that I wanted to take a trip to where I truly cut my comedy teeth, Chicago baby! Taking an Amtrak I had a brief layover in a small town I’d never even heard of, Ottumwa, Iowa. Exiting the train SMASH, CRASH, MA MIA I have another seizure. The first in MONTHS. This is the worst one yet.

I wake up in the hospital after what I was told a 4 day coma. I couldn’t talk, I couldn’t walk, I could barely even communicate to the doctors and nurses via handwriting. By the way, hats off to them! They actually gave a shit and did everything to keep me alive and get well for 3 straight weeks. They said they’d never seen someone so determined to get better and when I could finally talk and we could all get to know each other they asked what my drive was. My reply was “after all I’ve done, accomplished, and the people I’ve met to grow to love, I’m sure as not shit not dying in Iowa”

I was released yesterday with a prognosis of “Operational Human Being”. I hadn’t laughed so hard in years! A list of permanent medications to keep the seizures at bay and today I make that trip to my literal and beautiful second city, Chicago.
