Help for Annie

I met Annie West Ellzey during ours days together in the USF Theater Department in the mid-late 1970’s. She is one of the most joyful, generous and compassionate people I’ve ever met. Recently, Annie shared on FB that she’d been in the hospital for 10 days (at that point) fighting a very serious infection in her foot, including multiple surgeries towards saving the foot. Now, she is headed to a facility for weeks more of extended treatment and rehabilitation prior to being able to be discharged to go home.

Since learning of her situation my heart has been going out to Annie as I know has been happening for many of you, too. I’ve felt helpless to be able to do anything meaningful for her. But, we’re not helpless… we can become Annie’s friend family at this critical moment in her life. We can help her with a financial buffer against what must be completely overwhelming and, even, desperate circumstances. Even if everything goes well from here on out, she will have been away from home for weeks and she will be coming home to very challenging new obstacles since she left home weeks prior.

I want to help, but I’m only one person who has her own struggles. I know that’s true for so many of us. But I can help by becoming part of something bigger than me. I’m hoping you can find it in your heart to offer Annie your help, too. Thank you so much.
