Hi everyone,
As many of you know, my wife, Morgan, and I have three amazing boys, and our youngest, Henry, is just 5 months old. He’s already faced more challenges in his short life than most people do in years.
When Henry was only 1.5 months old, he was admitted to the hospital for two weeks because he had lost a significant amount of weight and was struggling to gain it back. Since then, we’ve been keeping a close eye on him, and while he’s stayed small, he had been gaining and growing stronger.
In November, Morgan and I were getting ready for a much-needed anniversary trip when Henry developed a small cough. At first, it didn’t seem like a big deal, but shortly after we got back, he started having seizure-like episodes. He was admitted to the hospital again, where he was monitored and eventually diagnosed with febrile seizures—even though he didn’t have a fever at the time.
Then, just this past Sunday, Henry started feeling very sick. His fevers came on fast, climbing to dangerous levels, only to come back as soon as medication wore off. By Tuesday, he was lethargic and wouldn’t stay awake. We rushed him to the hospital, where he was admitted again with a fever over 40°C (104°F). The doctors are running tests to figure out what’s going on, as he’s also started experiencing weight loss and seizure activity again.
Right now, Henry is still in the hospital, and we don’t know how long he’ll need to stay. I’ve taken time off work to be with Morgan and our boys, and while we’re doing everything we can to stay strong, the financial strain is tough—especially with the holidays so close.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Please keep Henry in your thoughts—we’re hoping to have him home, healthy, and safe by Christmas.
