We are Braves Rowing and we need a boat that is the right size for our athletes!
Last year we had fantastic success with our girl's and boys' teams, placing in races throughout the fall and spring season, even though some of our equipment badly needs repair and is altogether the wrong fit for our rowers. In one spring race, our boy's four missed a spot to advance by literally inches. The boat they have been rowing is a mid-weight boat made to carry rowers from 175lbs to 195lbs (think college-size athletes). We can only imagine what they could achieve in a properly sized mid-light weight boat built for rowers between 145-165lbs!
Established in 1985 by Boone High School Students and run entirely by parent volunteers, Boone Crew carries a long tradition of hard work and excellence. Rowing reinforces the value of teamwork over an extended period for a common objective, strengthening one's sense of duty and commitment.
In addition to maintaining their educational responsibilities, our rowers practice 5-6 days a week and spend their weekends volunteering to maintain our boathouse/equipment, hosting fundraisers, and attending regattas. Their dedication is unmatched!
Rowing (aka "Crew") is a demanding sport with a deep concentration on teamwork, integrity and leadership (qualities that will serve our athletes well as they move forward in life). Crew, however, is a costly sport, and our goal is to make it as affordable as possible for any students who wish to be part of the Braves Rowing tradition.
We are not funded financially by Orange County Public Schools; therefore, 100% of our budget is funded through dues and multiple fundraising events throughout the year. Our operating expenses make it difficult to maintain and purchase new equipment. We would appreciate your support!
As a registered 501 (c)3 charitable, non-profit corporation, donations made to Braves Rowing are tax-deductible in most circumstances. Please confirm this with a tax professional if you have any questions.
Row STRONG, Row BRAVE, Row BOONE!
