ELLA’S SITUATION BY AIMEE…
‘2 weeks ago, today our whole world was rocked to the core. We started at Canberra hospital ED on Wednesday morning when Ella's face and lymph nodes had swollen up excessively. Fast forward 24 hours (Thursday) and we were airlifted to Sydney where our life would be based for the coming months.
Then the diagnosis of a parent’s worst nightmare. Ella was diagnosed with cancer. Acute lymphoblastic leukemia and a mediastinal mass (tumour in her chest).
Ella has overcome so many challenges already (9 cannulas (some misses too), 1 twilight surgery (lumbar puncture and bone marrow biopsy extraction), a few days spent in ICU, surgery under GA (insertion of portacath into her chest), 8 days of strong steroids, and 2 rounds of chemotherapy using 3 different drugs’.
THE FAMILIES SITUATION
Currently Ella and Aimee are in Sydney and Ricky and the other two munchkins in Canberra. Once their house is packed up the family will be together again. They will remain in Sydney for approximately 6-8 months (out of the 2 years approximate total treatment time) as their little princess undergoes chemotherapy/treatment to kick cancers butt!
Unfortunately, apart from the emotional cost, the financial costs are also massive, so NSP., with the families blessing, are asking people to support the family through this GoFundMe as they are not able to work due to needing to actively participate in Ella’s treatments and recovery from cancer.
Aimee and Ricky are wonderful members of the Canberra community who help anybody in need. Aimee recently completed her nursing degree and started work as a midwife. Unfortunately she has needed to go on leave without pay for the duration of Ella’s treatment. Ricky is a small business owner operating in Canberra and will not be able to operate from Sydney. Therefore, we are asking people to provide any financial assistance they can.
During these tough times for everybody, any assistance you can give to Aimee, Ricky, Ella, Noah and Macy will be greatly appreciated and put to good use.
