Hello, I’m Carmen Broesder — a geek, nerd, writer, advocate, and realist.
I come from a family rooted in both service and the land. My father is a conservative libertarian, my grandfathers were proud Republicans, and one of them is a farmer. My mother and grandmother, both preacher’s wives, instilled in me a deep sense of compassion and service.
I was born in Hawaii, raised across the U.S. as a military brat, and eventually came to Colorado — a place I chose for its promise of freedom, resilience, and community.
I’ve spent years fighting to be heard. My life was changed forever when I endured a 19-day miscarriage, turned away from multiple emergency rooms because of Idaho’s restrictive reproductive health laws.
Fearing for my life, I fled to Colorado, where I found protection under your laws.
That experience lit a fire in me to fight for change — not just through storytelling, but through laws and leadership.
I’m the author of The Intentional Life and Project Unity 2025, books that serve as instruction manuals for bringing people together across divides.
I’ve testified in Idaho for the restoration of a maternal mortality review panel to hold the system accountable and improve care for families. I’ve even offered my medical records to federal abortion rights cases to fight for those who can’t fight for themselves.
My life and my work are guided by one core belief:
Everyone deserves dignity, access to healthcare, and a voice in their own future.
Now, I’m running for Governor of Colorado to bring that belief — and real change — to the laws that shape our lives.
Colorado deserves leadership that can bridge divides: between urban and rural, conservative and progressive, tradition and innovation.
My roots in service, my family’s agricultural legacy, and my firsthand experience with failed systems have prepared me to fight for a Colorado that works for everyone — farmers, families, workers, and communities across this great state.
