On Saturday evening, Nevaeh was in a horrible car wreck. She was driving northbound on Highway 65 when a Chevy Trailblazer crossed over the center line and struck her vehicle head on. Bystanders responded immediately and called 911, placed a tourniquet on her leg, and comforted her while they waited for EMS to arrive.
Nevaeh was taken from the scene of the accident to HCMC via helicopter. At HCMC, she was stabilized in the emergency department. She sustained serious injuries but we are so grateful that she is alive, coherent, and will heal. She has a displaced left femur fracture, displaced left clavicle fracture, right foot fracture, suspected torn ligaments & tendons in her right foot/ankle, large cut below her right knee, a broken nose, scrapes, and lots of neck and back pain.
On Saturday evening in the ER, they placed a pin in her left lower leg and used a weighted traction device to help relieve some of the pain from the femur fracture. She spent the night in the ER and was taken to the OR on Sunday morning to have her femur repaired. They placed a rod in her femur. While she was under, they also cleaned and stitched the large cut below her right knee and splinted her right foot/ankle.
She is in a lot of pain but has been brave and strong throughout this all. If you know Nevaeh, you know that she is like deathly afraid of needles, seeing blood, and honestly just talking about any medical procedure is enough to make her pass out… and she has been so tough throughout this all. She has a long road to recovery but we cannot emphasize enough how grateful we are that she is still with us and had no injuries to her brain/spine.
She has several more surgeries ahead of her & a long road to recovery. Thank you for all the love and support.
Nevaeh has a long road ahead of her and will be out of work for a significant time.
