Kurt Schwabenland and His Family

Kurt Schwabenland, known by many as "Schwabe" has touched many lives throughout his 20+ year career in pharmaceutical sales. He is a beloved and fearless leader, serving 15+ years as a District and Regional Business Sales Manager. Many of us who have known him and worked for him consider him a favorite boss and refer to our days together as working with the "Dream Team". Kurt is also a loving husband and father. He has been married to Kristi for nearly 31 years and they have 3 daughters Anna (27), Claire (25), and Sarah (20). Kurt's professional career came to a dramatic halt in 2019, when at the age of 50 years old, he was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia, a rare neurodegenerative disease that causes nerve cells in the brain to lose their ability to function over time. This diagnosis came after many failed attempts to correctly uncover the root of his symptoms. Since that time, Kurt's condition has progressed quickly and he now has Frontotemporal Dementia with Aphasia which makes communication difficult. This will worsen with time. At this point, Kurt's condition has progressed fast enough to be eligible for hospice care. He cannot be left alone and he needs full-time help with all daily activities. He also has early signs of Parkinson’s, which is commonly associated with his FTD diagnosis.

Kurt was the sole financial provider for his family until this medical condition took his ability to work away from him. He did not have a long-term care policy in place at the time of receiving this rare diagnosis at such a young age. We are raising much-needed funds to help support Kristi and his girls with the financial strain that comes along with Kurt being disabled as well as to help pay for his medical care and eventual home in a memory care facility or full-time home care which can cost anywhere from $5K - 8K + per month.
