Kurt Thompson
Kurt is my little brother. The youngest of 8 children. And I would say, the kindest
out of all of us. He is a light in our family, to his husband, and in all of his friends'
and co-workers' lives. Everyone who knows him adores him.
Last month, at age 29, he had his stomach removed because of gastric cancer. Due to complications, a 5 day hospital stay turned into 17. He had to have two
additional surgeries because of internal bleeding. We had a few scares, and it was a nightmare for all of us. Through it all, he was positive and uplifting to everyone
around him. He said he won't waste time on negativity. Because of COVID, he
could only have one person at a time visit, and only two people on his visitation
list. I’m grateful for my mom (2x cancer survivor) and his husband, Par, who took
care of him day and night.
I've created this gofundme page to help with Kurt's current and future medical
expenses. Kurt loves his job as a supervisor, but will be unable to work for some
time. It's been 5 weeks since his surgery, and he is still unable to eat or drink
anything and gets nourishment through a feeding tube.
Kurt is a fighter, and a dedicated and loyal person. He can't wait to get back to
work, back to hikes with his dogs and spouse, and back to enjoying his beautiful
life. My hope is to raise enough money to alleviate the stress of the financial
burden, so that he can focus fully on healing.
