Kurt Sorem Celebration of Life costs

Donation protected
It is with a heavy heart we are reaching out to let you all know that our friend and brother Kurt Sorem flew away from this world on December 18, 2019.  He didn't share details with many people as he hated to be fussed over or worry anyone.  Despite some very tough, physically painful and debilitating days in recent months, he bravely maintained his generous spirit.  Kurt never hesitated to offer a smile or a shoulder to lean on for anyone who needed him.

Kurt was born on March 5th , 1980 in Minnesota, the beloved son of parents Eldon and Phyllis.  His brother, Justin, was born a few years after and will forever be his best friend.

An avid soccer player and fan, Kurt traveled the world and attended many great international soccer games. He always enjoyed different cultures and meeting new friends.  He loved making us all laugh and his eyes would light up as he spoke - sharing all his stories from his unique and often hilarious adventures.

In 2003, Kurt made his way to Hawaii where he lived on the Big Island and Oahu.  He flourished in a renewable energy career, working as an expert in the solar business.  He was respected for his team spirit and hard work ethic, always getting things done with positivity and enthusiasm.

To know Kurt was to love him - from the minute he smiled at someone they could feel the warmth and open-hearted generosity he exuded.  Most of us were instantly drawn into and entertained by his signature, infectious laugh which will echo in our hearts for decades to come.  Kurt was one of the kindest, gentlest, and loving souls one could ever encounter.  He had a heart of pure gold melted together with an abundance of wit and charm.  He could effortlessly connect with people no matter their background or age.  Kurt's sudden departure has left us all with a hole in our lives and hearts that was once filled with his warmth and that lighthearted laughter.

We are reaching out with this GoFundMe page to help the Sorem family at this difficult time.  They would like to honor Kurt with a celebration of life that he so deserves. As you can imagine this is a heartbreaking time for his family.

We would be so grateful for your help in alleviating their financial burden as they grieve and make plans to say goodbye to their son.  Please find it in your heart to send any assistance you can, every little bit helps.  The funds will go toward the costs of flying Kurt home to his family and then financing the memorial service at Hoff celebration of life center Winona, MN on 1/3/2020.  Any additional funds left over after the cost of Kurt’s services will be donated to the Cotter High School Soccer program.

With Much Love and Aloha,
