Kuro's Fight: Becca and Chris Need Support
Donation protected
Kuro has never been the most social cat. In fact I have more fingers and toes to count than the amount of times he's made an appearance. I've been able to pet him just 4 times. However in recent months Kuro has been brave and comes out of his safe spaces to observe and watch us from a distance when we visit Becca and Chris. Because Kuro is so shy every encounter with him is extra special and highly coveted in our friend group.
I have started this indiegogo on behalf of Becca and Chris, for Kuro.
On June 12th Becca's other cat Delilah swallowed a needle, despite Becca moving said needle to a place Delilah shouldn't of been able to get. Delilah had a 6 hour trip to the emergency vet that night. After x-rays came back they showed the needle had already made it's way to the colon. (Which for those that don't know it's the last stop before the chalupa can be dropped.) This was worst case news and if the needle punctures the colon it would be game over for Delilah. After 48 hours, almost no sleep and a lot of stress and poop jokes later Delilah passed the needle with no problems! Unfortunately we aren't out of the woods.
With all the focus being on Delilah and the whole needle ordeal, we failed to realize that Kuro was hiding, not because of his usual fear and anxiety but because he could tell something was wrong with Delilah who is his best friend in the whole world. As well as normal schedules in the home being thrown off. This stress of not knowing what's going on with his bff caused Kuro to hold his bladder for what we believe to be 4 days. This caused a blockage in his urinary tract. The same day Delilah passed the needle, Becca realized that Kuro needed to go to the vet after he started crying in pain.
After being taken to the vet he finally peed but there was blood in his urine. Which is a really bad sign. The vets said he was in critical condition and his chance of surviving wasn't looking good. They gave him fluids and he seemed like he was responding well. But because of his current state he needed to be taken to an emergency vet. Where he currently is on constant fluids and a catheter. His expected stay is going to last 2 days assuming his condition stabilizes. As of writing this he's been at the emergency vet for one night and has made amazing progress in his recovery. The vet even said he was stretching out and showing his belly. Which for a cat that has the worst social anxiety is amazing and uplifting news.
Now this is where the campaign comes in. Chris was laid off from his tech job on June 10th 2025. While there is a severance package, Becca and Chris really need to hold on to this money for as long as possible until Chris can find another job. Which, with the current state of tech who knows how long that could take. I've known Becca and Chris since 2019 and they've always been so willing to help me whenever I've needed it. Whether it be a nice home cooked meal, a place to sleep, a listening ear, gas money or just good company. They've always been reliable and never ask for anything in return. But, it's my turn to help them save their beloved black cat, Kuro. I know the world really sucks right now and money is tight for everyone but any amount of donation will help so, so much.
