MichaelsMiracle - Battling Carcinoma
*Long post*
My name is Kellie, I am Michaels sister. Most of you already know Michaels story, for the ones who don't, here are the details we have so far.
My 17 year old brother, Michael, has been dealing with a mass on his neck for almost a year. After doing tons of tests and lots of begging, we got some results back on Feb. 20th (that were a little uneasy) from a CT scan done in February.
This same day he also had an MRI.
those results were even worse.
His first biopsy was a needlepoint biopsy, that came back as all 5 samples were inconclusive. We were scheduled for a more extensive biopsy, that he had a few days later.
On 4/11 we received his second biopsy results... and things are not good.
We have confirmation on a carcinoma diagnosis....they are leaning towards nasopharyngeal carcinoma, but we now know that it is definitely cancer, and things are changing fast.
With the information we have been given thus far, we have been able to determine that we are probably looking at atleast stage 3-4, even more so it could even be stage 4A or 4B.
We are very overwhelmed with sadness, fear, anger, and frustration. He has to go into his 18th birthday battling Cancer.
For a year now, this has grown and mutated and at this point we don't know where we even stand in this battle. We are in the process of determining where he will receive the best care and treatment, and at that point we will have to make a choice on where we will seek care. This could have had a different outcome. This could have been prevented.
My mom will probably have to quit her job, and will have to deal with trying to figure out gas money to get him back and forth to treatments and appointments, not to mention little things that happen in life that could arise behind all of this. She shouldnt have to stress over finances on top of all this.
My mom, and most importantly, Michael, needs everyone's help so much. If you know my brother you know... he wouldn't hurt a fly, he's a good kid that doesn't make bad decisions, he has good grades and loves to learn, he keeps to himself, he's never lied or cheated. He is a good person, and has the most innocent and purest souls. He doesn't deserve what he's about to endure. My mom doesn't deserve to feel the fear of the unknown, what's to come from this, and the battle we are all about to face.
Everyone PLEASE keep my entire family in your prayers, but especially my little brother. This affects so many of us in so many different ways, we are all so heartbroken for what's about to happen. Their whole life changes now, and they both have an extremely tough battle ahead of them.
Please pray for us, share his story, and this fundraiser. Please join his journey on Facebook for all updates, results, and other ways to help by searching for #MichaelsMiracle.
