Kunovszky Family Medical Emergency Fund
Donation protected
My name is Monica Kunovszky, and I am the eldest daughter of Joe and Eva Kunovszky.
I'm reaching out today in monetary support of my parents, who have each separately gone through unfortunate and dire medical emergencies.
My father always said, "when it rains it pours", and it seems like our family may be going through a season of tsunamis.
In the middle of July my mother, Eva Kunovszky landed in the hospital for two weeks with a mysterious fluid build-up that couldn't be stopped or identified. After countless exams, tests, pokes, and prods the diagnosis was earthshattering and quite hard to stomach. Stage 4 adenocarcinoma.
Being discharged, my mother worked fast to try to get support and set our family up for success before cancer could have its hold on her. My dad also left his 30 year career truck driving, so he could care for her full time.
Chemo started, and a sigh of relief seemed to fill the family because we finally thought, we might have a fighting chance at keeping my mother around longer.
Unfortunately by the middle of August, a few short days after the first session of chemotherapy, she started to fall more ill.
She was readmitted in to the hospital, where it was discovered a nasty fall at home down the stairs was caused by a stroke.
After getting x-rayed and tests done, my mother came back to her hospital bed unable to move half her body, and completely mute.
My sister and I left our jobs in to help my father take care of our mother, and while slow progress was made in that department, another sinister twist to our family was given by life.
On Wednesday, in the early hours of the morning my sister and I called 911 to whisk away our father who suffered a heart attack.
Sick enough, currently our parents are at the same hospital on different floors. We are now waiting for my mothers strength to improve so she can go to rehab and begin physical therapy AND my father to get admittance to a different hospital so he can have open heart surgery.
Although the moment isn't about my sister and I right now, it's hard not to mention just how vulnerable we felt losing our two stable units. Role models who have helped us. I mean those moments we saw our dad leave the house in the ambulance was met with a thick air in our home when we asked ourselves, "who do we call now?"
I am grateful for my sister, and it is why I come today on behalf of my entire family to ask for help during this excruciatingly painful and difficult time.
Medical bills have not stopped coming since my mother's original two week stay in the emergency room in mid July. And as they add up, it's hard to juggle both my parents medical bills, their utility bills, and me and my sister's own bills that wait for us at home.
I have always worked two jobs at a time since I was 16 to anticipate for any emergency that may fall onto my family. Although I have saved and saved, I am running out of funds to support my family, and we are reaching the end of our reserves.
So I come here today asking for any and all help. Whether it's monetarily, or just a quick share of this link. Anything helps--even affirmative words or a positive thought in our direction.
The goal here is to raise money so we can pay back the medical bills accumulated.
I am immensely grateful for this platform and the community surrounding us, and the ability to have a chance to ask for help.
Thank you for taking the time to read and check this out.
Our family appreciates it. Thank you.
